Common questions about Feldspar in plastic & polymer applications
Feldspar acts as a multifunctional alumino-silicate filler in plastics, improving optical properties, thermal insulation, antiblocking performance, mechanical strength, and surface durability. Its controlled particle morphology enhances stiffness, scratch resistance, abrasion resistance, and dimensional stability while maintaining clarity and processing performance. In greenhouse and packaging films, feldspar-based fillers also provide infrared reflectance for heat retention and improved film functionality.
Our Feldspar and Feldspathic Nepheline Syenite grades are available in multiple particle sizes to suit different polymer applications. Typical grades include Phelmer C with D50 of 2.5–4 µm, Phelmer G with D50 of 4–7 µm, Silfermine FLS 5 with D50 of 4–5 µm, and Silfermine FLS 7 with D50 of 6–7 µm. These controlled particle sizes help optimize clarity, antiblocking performance, and mechanical properties in plastics.
Our Feldspar grades are specially designed for flexible packaging and greenhouse film applications where excellent antiblocking performance, clarity, and thermal efficiency are required. Phelmer C provides low haze, excellent gloss retention, and efficient antiblocking in packaging films, while Phelmer G offers superior infrared reflectance that reduces heat loss and improves night-time heat retention in greenhouse films. These grades maintain film transparency, tensile strength, and extrusion stability even at higher filler loadings, making them highly suitable for LDPE, LLDPE, EVA, and BOPP film formulations.
Our Feldspar grades are widely used in greenhouse films, agricultural films, shrink films, stretch films, pallet wraps, laminate films, flexible packaging films, antiblock masterbatches, automotive interior components, appliance parts, white goods, and engineering plastic compounds. They are suitable for PE, PP, PVC, LDPE, LLDPE, EVA, and BOPP based polymer applications requiring improved optical, thermal, and mechanical performance.
Our Feldspar grades provide excellent antiblocking properties, high clarity, low haze, and superior gloss retention in films. They improve infrared heat retention, reduce radiative heat loss, and enhance greenhouse efficiency. In engineering plastics, they improve scratch resistance, hardness, abrasion resistance, and durability. The controlled particle size distribution ensures good dispersion, stable extrusion processing, and retention of mechanical properties. Their low iron and transition metal content minimizes UV degradation and enhances long-term polymer performance in demanding applications.
