Zeolite

Zeolite's high cation-exchange capacity allows it to adsorb ammonium ions (NH₄⁺) from poultry excreta, reducing ammonia volatilisation into the poultry house atmosphere. Lower ammonia levels improve respiratory health in birds, reduce eye and mucous membrane irritation, and create a cleaner, less stressful house environment.

Zeolite improves FCR by enhancing nutrient utilisation through better gut health, improved intestinal integrity, and more efficient digestion and absorption of amino acids, minerals, and energy. Animals spending less energy on gut inflammation allocate more resources to growth and production.

Micron ZL-FG 100 is a standard feed-grade zeolite for general toxin binding and gut health. ZL-Active 200 is a finer, activated grade with enhanced ion-exchange capacity. ZL+ is the premium grade with maximum adsorption capacity for high-performance and specialty feed formulations.

Zeolite shows moderate adsorption of polar mycotoxins including aflatoxins and is particularly effective for ammonia and cationic toxins. For broad-spectrum mycotoxin control, zeolite is often used in combination with HSCAS and other binders, providing complementary coverage across toxin types.

Zeolite is typically included at 0.5–2% of feed (5–20 kg/tonne) — lower rates for general gut health support and FCR improvement, higher rates in high-ammonia environments or significant toxin contamination. Dosage is adjusted based on animal species and production stage.
