Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about LC Series Pigment Extenders in inks and pigments applications

LC Series consists of a CaCO₃ core with a controlled TiO₂ coating, forming a composite pigment-extender structure. It functions at the pigment–particle interface by providing optimised spacing between pigment particles and enhancing refractive index contrast, improving light scattering efficiency, colour strength control, and dispersion stability.

Modern high-strength organic pigments exhibit very high surface energy, strong agglomeration tendency, shade instability during dispersion, and viscosity drift during paste storage. LC Series is specifically designed to eliminate these risks through controlled particle spacing and surface interaction.

LC Series particles create uniform inter-particle distance within the pigment system, reducing pigment–pigment attraction, suppressing agglomeration and flocculation, and contributing to balanced rheology — ensuring pastes remain stable, pumpable, and easily redispersible over time.

LC Series is typically used at 5–30% loading depending on the pigment type, desired tint strength, and formulation requirements. Trials are recommended to optimise the specific loading for each pigment system.

Reds (improved shade stability and reduced flocculation), Yellows (brightness retention with clean high-chroma development), Blues (controlled tint strength with anti-flooding behaviour), Blacks (improved flow and rheology), and Specialty Shades (batch-to-batch colour reproducibility and dispersion stability).
