Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Barytes in plastic & polymer applications

Barytes acts as a high-density functional filler in plastics, improving stiffness, rigidity, dimensional stability, impact resistance, thermal stability, gloss, and opacity. It also enhances sound insulation and enables partial replacement of TiO₂ for cost-effective formulations while maintaining excellent surface finish and durability.

Our Barytes grades are available in a wide particle size range from ultra-fine precipitated grades to micronized grades. Ppt. Barium Sulfate is available at D50 0.8–1.2µ, while Micron Barytes grades are available from D50 1.8–2.4µ, 2.3–3.3µ, 3.0–4.0µ, and up to 5.0–6.0µ depending on the application requirement.

For film and masterbatch applications, Ppt. Barium Sulfate, Micron Barytes 2µ PL, and Micron Barytes 5030 PL are recommended due to their excellent dispersion, opacity, and gloss properties. For automotive and engineering compounds, Micron Barytes 1240 PL are preferred for their superior rigidity, thermal stability, impact strength, and sound-dampening characteristics.

Our Barytes grades are widely used in PE & PP masterbatches, LDPE films, automotive plastic parts, white appliance compounds, engineering plastics, acoustic pipes, silent drainage systems, rigid polymer compounds, and other high-density plastic applications requiring enhanced mechanical and acoustic performance

Key advantages include superior opacity and gloss, improved stiffness and dimensional stability, enhanced impact resistance, better sound insulation, excellent thermal and chemical stability, higher filler loading capability, improved scratch resistance, excellent dispersion, and compatibility with PE, PP, PS, ABS, PVC, and engineering polymers. Barytes also supports TiO₂ reduction, helping optimize formulation costs without compromising performance.
